Kayla called me today. Actually Bryan(the guy she's living with) called me, and he put her on the phone after he congratulated me on my engagement. The way she said "hey" when she got on the phone will be in my mind breaking my heart for days. Fearful, wounded, shameful, sorrowful... as far as I know, her heart is still hard, but the emotions that that one word held gave me hope.

It was the first time I'd heard her voice since September. Gosh, I miss her.
